Dr. Martin Luther King jr. was a leader of the civil rights movement in 1960s in America, which meant that he hoped the black people and white people would begin to live together peacefully, with equal rights. He was assassinated in 1968.

On October 14th (1964) Martin Luther King Jr. became the youngest man (age 35) to receive a Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through non-violence.
