MAUD LEWIS, A CANADIAN ARTIST

In Art and Crafts ,Primary Year 6 students have been introduced to Maud Lewis ´work.

This Canadian folk artist lived most  of her life in poverty ,in a tiny house in Marshalltown (Nova Scotia)  with her husband, Everett. She was born with birth defects and developed rheumatoid arthritis which  reduced her mobility, especially her hands.

Lewis used bright colours in her paintings and subjects were flowers , animals and outdoor scenes. She painted every available surface in her home.

These are the amazing houses that  the students have made following Maud´s painting style.
